Gauri Lankesh was shot in the chest, her brother has said.
Indrajit Lankesh added that the shooting was captured on CCTV.
He added that he had requested police to view the the CCTV footage in front of him and his mother.
And that the family wanted a CBI probe into the killing of Gauri Lankesh.
The Karnataka Police meanwhile have formed a SIT (special investigation team) to look into the murder.

He added that there were no threats to Gauri's life.
Karnataka chief minister Siddaramiah said he had left the decision on whether there would be a CBI probe or not to the Karnataka police chief.
He added that he had instructed police that activists propagating progressive thoughts should be given police protection.
He said Gauri had met him recently but had not mentioned any threats to her.
He added that similar weapons had been used in the Kalburgi, Pansare, and Dabholkar killings, but that it was too soon to link Gauri's murder to theirs.

He said he had instructed police that the "case must be taken seriously".
