IPL 2024: WATCH | MI's Rohit Sharma enters ELITE list with eighth T20 hundred during loss vs CSK
MI's Rohit Sharma has criticised the impact sub rule
Mumbai Indians batter Rohit Sharma is now the joint-fourth batter in the world to score eight T20 hundreds. Rohit achieved the feat during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 14. Rohit scored 105 not out off 61 balls - his second in the league.
Sharma reached the 100 with a four off CSK bowler Matheesha Pathirana, whose 4/28 proved pivotal in Chennai's first away win of the season. Have a look at the four below:
Rohit shares the fourth position with Australia internationals David Warner &Aaron Finch, and Aussie domestic player Michael Klinger in the list ofmost T20 hundreds. Ahead of Rohit are India's Virat Kohli with nine T20 hundreds, Pakistan's Babar Azam with 11 hundreds in T20s and Chris Gayle, who tops the list with 22 hundreds in the shortest format.

Apart from two IPL tons, Rohit has five hundreds inT20 internationals as well, joint-most for any player along with Australia's Glenn Maxwell. Hehas also hit a hundred for Mumbai in the domestic T20 tournament - Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy.

As for the match, MI skipper Hardik Pandya's last over of the innings, which went for 26 runs, proved to be the difference between the two sides. In the over, CSK batter MS Dhoni hit three consecutive sixes and scored 20 not out off the last four balls as Chennai posted a huge total of 206/4 in 20 overs.
During the chase, no MI batter could get going after a fiery start in the powerplay where Rohit and Ishan Kishan added 63 runs before Pathirana sent Kishan back in the eighth over. MI's Suryakumar Yadav also departed in the same over as Mumbai started to lose momentum.
CSK bowlers were on point throughout the night as they didn't allow any Mumbai batter to cross the 30-run mark apart from Rohit and Tilak Varma (31). MI eventually lost the match by 20 runs as they managed 186/6 in 20 overs. This was Mumbai's fourth loss in six matches as they sit ineighth place, ahead of ninth-place Delhi Capitals and last-placed Royal Challengers Bengaluru, in the 10-team points table.
