Will support whoever forms government, except for Modi ji, on condition of full statehood to Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal 

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said that the Aam Aadmi Party will support "whoever will be forming the government at the Centre except for Modi ji and Amit Shah" on the promise that "Delhi will be given statehood".

Last month, the party chief had accused the Congress of unsuccessful alliance talks between the two parties, saying they tried hard but the Congress 'backtracked'.

"We tried very hard to forge an alliance with the Congress. We were ready to accept their every demand for Haryana and Punjab, but still, they backtracked. We cannot do anything more, the talks of alliance with Congress are over. We know, this will help BJP, but we simply don't have any choice left," said AAP leader Gopal Rai at a press conference here.

Meanwhile, reacting over the ongoing row involving BJP's Delhi East candidate and AAP's Atishi, Kejriwal said that "this is the mentality of BJP, even today BJP leaders are saying the same things that were written in the pamphlet".

"They have filed defamation case against us after defaming us. We are sending defamation notice to Gautam Gambhir today. We will not leave this matter," the Delhi CM told reporters in New Delhi today.

AAP candidate from Delhi East Atishi accused her BJP opponent Gautam Gambhir of circulating pamphlets with derogatory and casteist remarks against her. Gambhir has asserted that if proven guilty, he would request AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal to draft his resignation letter, which he will tender publicly.

Speaking to ANI, Gambhir said he would retire from politics the day allegations against him are proven.

"If he has proof, then he must bring it today. My resignation would be written by Arvind Kejriwal and I will sign it publicly," said Gambhir.
