US Elections 2024: NY author brutally assaults man wearing ‘Trump 2024 hat’ in supermarket

A local author allegedly beat up a stranger wearing a 'Trump 2024 hat' in a supermarket in New York a few days ahead of Election Day, according to the authorities.

The 60-year-old author Robert Yott faced accusations of pummelling former president Donald Trump's supporter who was sporting the hat at Tops Friendly Markets on Friday (Nov 1), said the police officials in the village of Bath.

According to the police, Yott brutally punched the mouth and head of the victim multiple times which caused broken teeth and a bloody mouth.

According to the village police department, the alleged assault “appears to be a random act of violence.”

Police arrestman for beating Trump supporter

Bath police said that they arrested Yott and booked him on second-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief and a felony.

According to a report published in the Wellsville Sun, Yott is a famous local author in the community who is known for writing a pair of military history books.

After the police arrested Yott, he was sent to the Steuben County Jail where he is currently awaiting arraignment.

As per the state records, the population of the village of Bath is around 5,500 people and it is located in Steuben County. The county has twice as many registered Republican voters than Democratic voters.

The United States is gearing up for the presidential elections on Tuesday (Nov. 5) as Republican nominee Donald Trump battles it out with Democrat nominee Kamala Harris.

Amid the election fervour, a very common way to show support for the presidential candidate is by donning a hat carrying some slogan or name of the nominee.

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa were days back seen wearing a "Make America Great Again" in a live postgame interview and showing their support for Trump.

"I’m not gonna talk too much about it, but I think it’s an important time," Bosa said after the game.
