Miss UK hands back crown after being asked to lose weight

Miss United Kingdom, Zoiey Smale has withdrawn from an international pageant and handed her crown back after she was told to lose weight in order to compete at international level.

The 28-year-old is from Nottinghamshire and won the Miss United Continents in June this year. She was preparing for an international title in the final round of the competition in Ecuador.

In a Facebook post, Smale says she decided to drop outafter she was "asked to lose weight and go on a diet plan."

She also wrote: "I love me and will not change for anyone... If a pageant doesn't want to utilise my capabilities because I am a size 10 then it's their loss."

As reported by Daily Mail, Smale said that it wasthe national director of the Miss United Continents pageant who informed her that the Ecuadorian directors wanted her to lose weight.

Ever since Smale has decided to withdraw from the pageant, she has received support from users on social media.
