Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi dismissed on Sunday dismissed reports of renewed US threats of sanctions a repeat of old scenario. He called it the “bullying” of US politics and said that the new measures would fail to defeat Iran. Speaking to the Iranian state media IRIB he said that the US has no choice but to “speak respectfully to the Iranian people”.
Describing what he said as "repetitive scenarios", Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said, "The fact that they have returned to the same old plans after the military operations and the fact that we are doing this and that shows that they are desperate. They cannot think of any solution against the great nation of Iran, and they are constantly putting repetitive plans into action."
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who is holding a press conference on Monday, is expected to announce "the toughest sanctions in history" on Iran. US President Donald Trump has warned of any economic consequences against any country that provides “any type of lifeline to Iran”.
"We have never been afraid. All of their actions - whether blockades or other military moves they have made - have failed, and this new issue of theirs will fail as well," Araghchi said.
According to Iranian Parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Tehran had received "numerous messages" from neighbouring countries about establishing new regional security arrangements and economic cooperation. Pakistan's army chief, Asim Munir, would visit Tehran on Monday as part of efforts to restore peace and security in the region.
