UAE Dubai Weather Today: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is bracing itself for another round of unpleasant weather as incessant rains and thunderstorms have brought the country to a standstill yet again. Several flights have been cancelled orre-routed, schools have been closed, and corporations are encouraging remote work amidst the chaotic weather.

On Thursday, an orange alert was issued in the UAE as the gulf nation faced the havoc of heavy rains since midnight. Showers and lightning were observed in Dubai as early as 2:35 am (local time), according to the UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology.

Earlier this month, Dubai experienced the heaviest rains on record since 1949.

The current weather conditions (heavy rain and storms) are expected to subside soon, but the public has been asked to take precautionary measures.

“Customers arriving or departing from Dubai airport on 2 May can expect some delays as flights are rescheduled," reported PTI quoting a statement from Emirates Airlines.

According to UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, the weather conditions are expected to be less severe than the last downpour that eventually resulted in floods.

For Thursday, the Met has predicted moderate to heavy rain in different areas, accompanied by lightning, thunder and small hailstones concentrated in western regions, coasts and some eastern regions.

For Friday and Saturday, cloud amounts are expected to decrease withlight to moderate rains, potentially in some southern and eastern areas.

- In Dubai, the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) announced the temporary suspension of accepting requests for the entry and departure of wooden dhows in Dubai.

- Advisory has been issued not to sail, and avoid valley areas, and low-lying places.

- Except for vital jobs that require presence, remote working was advised for all government and private sectors on Thursday and Friday.
