At least four people died while three others sustained injuries in a shooting incident early Saturday at a private social club in New York, news agency AFP reported quoting US media.
Four men were pronounced dead at the scene, while two other men and a woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the police official said.
Earlier reports had said as many as five people were wounded.
The shooting took place in the Brooklyn borough of the city and several other people were wounded, NBC and other news outlets reported.
The local affiliate of ABC News described the place where the shooting took place as an after-hours club.
No arrests have been made so far over the shooting, and the motive and exact circumstances are not known, a New York police official told AFP.
