Ohio Senator and Donald Trump's Vice Presidential pick JD Vance shared an incident on the Full Send podcast that has sparked controversy. Vance admitted telling his seven-year-old son to “shut the hell up” about Pokémon Pikachu during a crucial phone call with the former president. The call purportedly took place just moments before the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee last month.
Speaking to YouTube comedians the NELK Boys, Vance recounted the incident. He said that he was on a flight with his family to Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention when he realised there was no Wi-Fi on the plane.

Upon landing an hour later, he discovered over a hundred messages, including one from the Trump campaign indicating he had missed an important call.
Vance quickly returned the call, greeting Trump with, "Hey Sir, what's going on?" Trump responded, "JD, you missed a really important phone call, and now I'm going to have to go with someone else."

At that moment, Vance’s son, immersed in a Pokémon card phase, attempted to discuss Pikachu. Frustrated and needing to focus on the call, Vance said, "Son, shut the hell up for 30 seconds about Pikachu." He added, "This is the most important phone call of my life."

"Please just let me take this phone call." Vance noted that his son, not understanding the significance of the call, continued to talk about Pokémon.
The former president officially named Vance as his running mate during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee last month.
Vance’s remarks have since been met with widespread criticism on social media and from political figures.
The Democratic National Convention issued a statement saying, "If there's one thing JD Vance is going to do, it's full send being the weirdest, creepiest, and most unpopular running mate Donald Trump could have ever hoped for."
