It was his ninth One-Day International (ODI) top and his innings included 15 boundaries and one sixer. He reached three figures in 95 balls.

But he fell soon after reaching three figures when he played on to recalled paceman Matt Henry for 106.

"I'm disappointed that I didn't get a big one after getting to my hundred. You want to fire against the best teams in the world and consistently do it," he added.

"NZ have got quality bowlers, and we have learned things from the first innings and we need to try and use those pointers when we're bowling. We have to adjust a little bit in the second innings and hopefully, we can execute our skills well."
