Premier League announces fixtures for 2019-20 season restart

Premier League chief pleads for rethink of stadium fan ban

The Premier League on Friday announced the fixture schedule for the 2019-20 season until July 2 as the most-watched football league in the world gears up for resumption. The first three-match rounds of the halted 2019-20 season have been confirmed and the players have less than two weeks to complete their final preparations before the resumption of services.

The Premier League will restart on June 17 if all safety requirements are in place. All matches will be played behind closed doors.

Aston Villa and Sheffield United will resume the league on June 17 before Manchester City take on Arsenal later on June 17. The full match round will begin on June 19. Liverpool, in all likelihood, are expected to wrap up the formalities and lift the Premier League trophy after 30 long years.

"We are extremely happy that more than a third of our remaining fixtures will be televised free-to-air here in the UK," Richard Masters, Premier League CEO, said.

"We are pleased to provide fans with further updates on the provisional restart of the Premier League season.

"We know it won't be the same without our loyal supporters in stadiums but, together with our broadcast partners, we are able to ensure fans can watch or listen to each match live from home.
