Pakistan security forces eliminate 12 terrorists in three anti-terror operations across country

At least 12terrorists were killed in a series of separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in Dera Ismail Khan and Panjgur districts in Pakistan, media reports said while quoting statements from the media wing of the Pakistani military.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday (Apr 6) said that in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's DI Khan district, security forces successfully neutralised eight terrorists during a fierce encounter.

Notably, KP has been a target of terrorist organisations operating both within the region and from across the border. Various militant groups have carried out attacks on security forces, government institutions, and civilians which have led to instability in the region.

ISPR also revealed that the terrorists were heavily armed. Moreover, a cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives was seized from their possession.

The ISPR further said that these terrorists were actively engaged in various criminal activities. It included targeting security forces and innocent civilians.

In Balochistan’s Panjgur district, two terrorists named Asad and Hasrat were eliminated in a separate IBO. A cache of weaponry was alsorecovered.

ISPR in a statement said, “Security forces of Pakistan, in step with the Nation, remain determined to thwart attempts of sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan.”

Moreover, during another operation, two additional terrorists were eliminated as security forces carried out an intel-driven mission in the North Waziristan District.

It is pertinent to note that Pakistan itself has been accused of providing sanctuary and support to various terrorist groups. A suicide attack in Besham, a remote area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, on March 26, resulted in the tragic deaths of six individuals, including five Chinese engineers.

The attack occurred as a convoy transporting Chinese engineers was passing by to the Dasu hydroelectric project site from Islamabad. A vehicle laden with explosives, parked on the roadside, was detonated, causing devastation.

This incident marked the second attack on Chinese workers at the same hydroelectric project. A previous terrorist attack in July 2021 claimed the lives of 13 individuals, including nine engineers.
