Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy said on Monday that he was committed to wive farm loans and was ready with guidelines.

As many as 3,515 farmers have committed suicide between April 2013 and November 2017 in Karnataka.
A majority of these suicides have been because of drought and farm failure as per the statistics provided by the State Agriculture Department.
The previous Siddaramaiah-led Congress government had taken steps that included asking banks not to force farmers to repay their dues and turn their short and medium-term crop loans into long-term loans with the waiver of interest. However, the government was accused of failing to solve the agrarian crisis.
