IMD predicts heavy rain, issues orange alert for Delhi-NCR
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an "orange rain alert" for Delhi-NCR on Sunday, June 30, anticipating heavy rainfall over the next four to five days. The IMD forecasts heavy to very heavy rain across the region, following torrential downpours that lashed parts of north India on Saturday.
In an unfortunate turn, the recovery of three labourers' bodies from the rubble of a wall that collapsed at a building site in the Vasant Vihar area inNew Delhi increased the toll of weather-related incidents in Delhi to 11.
Delhi's minimum temperature stood at 27°C, 0.9 degrees below the seasonal average, with 9 mm of rain recorded in the past 24 hours and humidity at 78% as of 8:30 am. Tuesday is expected to be the hottest day, with a maximum temperature reaching around 34°C under mostly cloudy skies.

The Central Pollution Control Board reported Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) at 97, falling in the satisfactory range. An AQI of 0–50 is regarded as acceptable, 51–100 as satisfactory, 201–200 as moderate, 201–300 as bad, 301–400 as extremely poor, and 401–500 as severe.

Saturday saw widespread rainfall across Delhi, including Rohini, Burari, and central Delhi. Safdarjung recorded 8.9 mm of rainfall, while Lodhi Road reported 12.6 mm between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm.

Looking ahead, IMD forecasts isolated heavy rainfall across Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan from June 29 to July 3. Very heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, and west Madhya Pradesh during this period.
