News reports said Wednesday that the Jammu and Kashmir Police have identified Shujaat Bukhari's killers.
The reports quoted police sources as saying two of the killers were from South Kashmir and that the third was a Pakistani national.
The sources said the Pakistani national was Naveed Jutt, who had escaped from Srinagar's SMHS hospital in February this year. Jutt, who had been in police custody, had escaped during a terror attack mounted on the hospital to help him make his getaway.

The sources added that police had also identified the blogger who had started a smear campaign against Bukhaari, and that he was a terrorist from Srinagar now living in Pakistan.
The news reports said the police were expected to announce their findings Wednesday evening, which finally did not happen.
Kashmir Zone Police however said on Twitter that they had not yet "released any press release pertaining to the investigation".
Shujaat Bukhari, the editor of the Srinagar-based Kashmir Rising newspaper, was shot on June 14 as he left his office by three men on a motorcycle.
Police had released images of the three killers a little after the shooting.
