
Kejriwal meets Delhi LG: Some progress, but turf war still continues
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal late Friday afternoon.
Their meeting came after a landmark Supreme Court judgement Wednesday saying the Delhi government's decisions did not require the concurrence of the LG who only needed to be informed of the decisions.
There seemed to be some progress after their meeting Friday, but the turf war between the CM and the LG also continues.
Zakir Naik will not be sent back to India: Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamad
Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said Friday a controversial Indian Islamic preacher, Zakir Naik, allegedly wanted in his home country for terror-related activities and hate speech will not be sent back.
Naik, a radical television preacher, reportedly left India in 2016 and subsequently moved to largely Muslim Malaysia, where he was granted permanent residency.
Pakistan: Nawaz Sharif sentenced to 10 years in jail, daughter Maryam to 7 in corruption case
Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in the Avenfield case. His daughter, Maryam Nawaz, will serve 7 years in jail.
After a series of defers this morning, the Accountability Court in Pakistan gave out its verdict in the case. The matter had been deferred three times previously.
Maryam's husband, Safdar has been sentenced for a year. Sharif will also have to pay £8 million as fine, Maryam £2 million, Pakistan media reports.
