Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat is finally going to release in theaters on 25th January. And while states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have appealed to the Supreme Court to ban its release, Karni Sena has sought to vandalism and threats to stop the film's release. The fringe groups have been protesting since last year about the film stating that it shows the Rajput community in bad light.
On Monday, in private screening, a select few journalist were shown the film. The first few reviews are out and everyone seems to be saying that the film is a visual spectacle and does not dishonour the community. On the contrary, it upholds the honour of the Rajputs.
Padmaavat is a non-stop, breathless celebration of 14th Cent Rajput tradition. Anybody protesting on that count will feel very foolish after watching it. And it’s no history or sociology, but pure Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Saw Padmaavat. The film is visually stunning & has great performances. It is more about Khilji, his sexuality & his obsessions. Celebrates the moral courage and strength of character of Rajputs. Karni sena should be proud of the movie :)
