Dabholkar murder case: CBI recovers pistol, will send it to forensics

Sachin Praskasrao Andure, accused of killing rationalist Narendra Dabholkar in 2013, was arrested on Sunday by the CBI. 

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday recovered a 7.65 bore country-made pistol, a sword and a khukri from the residence of accused Sachin Andure's brother-in-law's friend, news agency ANI reported. 

According to reports, a similar pistol was used in Dabholkar's murder. The seized pistol will be sent to the forensics to determine if it was used for the murder.

Andure has been sent to CBI custody till August 26 by a Pune court, ANI reported.

He was produced before the court after being arrested by the CBI from Aurangabad, Maharashtra on Saturday.

Andure's arrest came a day ahead of the fifth death anniversary of Dabholkar, Maharashtra based rationalist who was the founder of Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (MANS).

Narendra Dabholkar was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants while returning home from a morning walk on August 20, 2013.
