
India continues to be one of the worst-affected countries by coronavirus as it recorded its highest single day spike of 19,906 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to5,28,859.
The total number includes2,03,051 active cases, 3,09,713 cured/discharged/migrated, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
A total of 410 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours and the cumulative toll reached 16,095 deaths.
National capital Delhireported 2,948 new cases and 66 deaths on Saturday night. Total number of cases stands at 80,188 including 28,329 active cases, 49,301 recovered/discharged/migrated cases and 2,558 deaths.
A total of 19,180 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. The stategovernment has reported that the city has 315 active containment zones, as of now.
Maharashtra, the worst-affected state of the country,reported 167 deaths and 5,318 new positive cases. Out of these 167 deaths- 86 occurred in the last 48 hrs and rest 81 are from the previous period. The total number of cases in the State stands at 1,59,133.
Out of the 5,318 cases,Mumbai, alone, recorded 1,460 fresh cases. The capital city of Maharashtrarecorded 41 deaths on Saturday night, taking the death toll to 4,282 and the total number of cases to 73,747. Number of active cases in the city stands at 27,134.
Tamil Nadu reported 3,713 fresh cases and 68 deaths in the last 24 hours despite a complete lockdown in place. The total number of cases now stands at78,335 and death toll at 1,025. Number of active cases stands at 33,213.
West Bengal recorded 521 positive cases and 13 deaths, taking the total number of cases in the state to 16,711 and death toll to 629. Number of active cases stands at 5,293.
Telangana reported1,087 cases and 6 deaths. A total of 162 patients were discharged. Total number of cases in the state is now at 13,436, including 8,265 active cases, 4,928 discharged and 243 deaths.
A total of 2,31,095 samples were tested yesterday and the total number of samples tested up to 27 June is 82,27,802, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
