Chhattisgarh is the latest entrant in providing special assistance to differently-abled. In May, the Tamil Nadu government had increased the reservation for differently-abled people for government positions from three per cent to four per cent.

Chief minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami reserved a position for differently-abled in all State public service, enterprises, public sector undertakings, boards, corporations, educational institutions, local bodies and government-aided institutions across the state.

Section 34 of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 states that every government establishment should appoint people with benchmark disabilities not less than four per cent of the total number of vacancies in the cadre.
