Attempt was to affect election process: DGP on IED blast in Jharkhand's Saraikela

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded in Jharkhand's Kuchai area of Saraikela on early Tuesday morning. 

DGP DK Pandey said that the IEDs that were installed in today's explosion on security personnel in Jharkhand's Saraikela were planted by Naxals. 

"The attempt was to affect the election process," Pandey said. 

"A joint operation by CoBRA, Jharkhand Jaguar and Jharkhand Police is being done to clear the area. Anti-personnel mine was triggered by Naxals today. 11 jawans were injured," Pandey stated adding that three are critically injured.

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded in Jharkhand's Kuchai area of Saraikela on early Tuesday morning, news agency ANI reported.

As per reports, the blast occurred at around 4:53 am and targeted the troops of 209 CoBRA and Jharkhand Police.

The security forces were out on special operations when the explosion took place.

The 11 injured jawans were airlifted for Ranchi at 6:52 am and taken to a local hospital.
