Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man? A girl can dream!

Making our wish come true, makers of the next He-Man film have roped in The Idea of You actor for the lead role. He will play the blonde barbarian who inspired the popular Mattel toy. He will star as He-Man in the upcoming film adaptation Masters of the Universe.

The film is directed by Travis Knight which is bankrolled by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel.

All we know about upcoming He-Man film, Masters of the Universe

The film which has been in the works for a long time finally has a released date of June 5, 2026. Making the cast announcement, makers want to start the production on the Masters of the Universe film soon. The project was first greeenlit at Warner Bros. and Sony before moving to Netflix, which axed the film in 2023 over budget concerns.

The film then moved to different directors from Kung Fu Panda filmmaker John Stevenson to Wicked helmer Jon M. Chu, Charlie’s Angels filmmaker McG and The Lost City duo Aaron and Adam Nee.

Prior to Nicholas’ casting, actor Kyle Allen was attached to the project to play He-Man.

The upcoming film now has Chris Butler as the man behind the screenplay. The film will be based on the 1982 action figure. Plot details are being kept under wraps.

According to a prior synopsis from the studio, “Masters of the Universe follows Prince Adam a.k.a. He-Man, who crashes to Earth in a spaceship as a child and, decades later, returns to his home planet to defend it from the evil forces of the baddie known as Skeletor. But in order to defeat the powerful villain, he needs to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man, referred to in this world as the most powerful man in the universe.”

Where did we see Nicholas before this?

Nicholas Galitzine’s last outing was with Anne Hathaway in the romantic comedy The Idea of You. He also appeared in Red, White & Royal Blue adaptation and will return for the forthcoming sequel.
