Varun Dhawan joins Border 2
Varun Dhawan is the new addition to Sunny Deol's Border 2. The long-awaited sequel of Sunny Deol's 1997 movie is in the making, and the most recent one to join is Varun.
On Friday (Aug 23), Dhawan's casting was officially announced by the team and the lead actor Sunny.
Taking to social media, the Gadar actor shared a montage video set toSonu Nigam'ssong “Sandese Aate Hai.”
The clip reading, “India’s Biggest War Film Gets Bigger” showed clips from the original movie. Sharing the clip, Sunny wrote, ''Welcoming Fauji @varundvn to the Battalion of #Border2.''
Varun shared the same clip on his social media handle as he penned a heartfelt note, recalling the nostalgic connection with JP Dutta's epic.

Recalling the impact Border created at the time of its release, Varun wrote in the caption, ''I was just a kid in class four when I went to Chandan cinema and saw Border. And it made such a big impact. I still remember the sense of national pride we all felt in the hall.''
He added, ''I began looking up to our armed forces and to this day, I salute how they protect us and keep us safe be it on our borders or during natural calamities. J P Dutta sir’s war epic remains one of my most favourite movies to this day.To play a part in Border 2 produced by J P sir and Bhushan Kumar is a very, very special moment in my career. And I get to work with Sunny Paaji my hero makes it all the more special. I look forward to bring a valiant jawaan’s story to screen in what promises to be India’s biggest war film.''

Dhawan's casting news comes after several reports claimed that actor Ayushmann Khurrana has opted out ofthe film. If reports are to be believed,Punjabi singer-turned-actor Diljit Dosanjh is alsopart of the film. However, nothing has been confirmed on the Chamkila actor's casting
Directed by Anurag Singh,the much-anticipated sequel was announced on June 13, 2024,Border 2will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta.
Thefilm will be released on January 23, 2026.
