Dia Mirza is currently basking in the success of her recently released projects, Ikka and Operation Safed Sagar, with audiences and critics applauding her esteemed performances. Amid the praise, the actress recently recalled her early career and shared an incident from one of the most popular songs, "Mujhe Tumse Mohabbat Hai," from the film Tumsa Nahin Dekha, opposite Emraan Hashmi. In a recent interview, Mirza revealed that she had to strip off her clothes for the track, which brought her immense popularity- something, according to her, none of her films have given her.
Dia Mirza on early career
During an appearance on Zoom Spotlight Sessions, Dia Mirza talked about her early career. The actress gained recognition for the heartfelt film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein with Madhavan and Saif Ali Khan. After portraying several memorable roles in numerous projects, Mirza then starred in Anurag Basu's Tumsa Nahin Dekha with Emraan Hashmi.
Mirza revealed that she had to strip off her clothes for one of the film's most popular songs, "Mujhe Tumse Mohabbat Hai." The actress stated, "I remember this song that Vaibhavi Merchant shot with us, and that is the only thing I told the producers. It was a song that I had to strip my clothes, and it had to come down to basically a bra and underwear, and I needed to feel comfortable."
Recalling the momentum of the song, Mirza shared, "We had a crowd of 500 people, all men, and a crew of 200 people, mostly men. Aur mujhe iss gaane mein jo mila, vo shayad hi apne kisi aur film ke through mila hoga." (What I got from this song, I don't think any of my films have given me this much)
She further added, "I realised I could be totally and completely unaffected by the male gaze and revel in and celebrate my own feminine energy and my beauty and not be minimised by that gaze. It was Bhatt sahab, Anurag, Emraan, and just everyone there who made me realise that it's not always about that but much more."
