IPL 2024: Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma help SRH post highest ever powerplay score
SRH openers blew away DC in powerplay
SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) continued their destructive batting spree in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season with highest ever powerplay score in all T20s on April 20. SRH posted 125/0 in the first six overs, taking all Delhi Capitals bowlers to the cleaners.
SRH overtook English country side Nottinghamshire who had posted 106/0 in first six overs against Durham in 2017. The next three scores on the list are Kolkata Knight Riders posting 105/0 in 2017 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, St Kitts and and Nevis Patriots scoring 105 against Barbados Tridents in 2017, and South Africa 102 against West Indies in 2023.

In the match against DC, SRH opener Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma both were on fire as they tore apart a bowling attack comprising of Anrich Nortje, Mukesh Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel.
Head reached his fifty of just 16 balls - joint fastest for SRH along with Abhishek Sharma who achieved the feat a few days back. Head had hit seven fours and four sixes, one of it cameon the last ball of the third over, to reach his fifty.By the time he scored the half century, Abhishek had faced just two balls and sent both of them for a four.
Abhishek then took on Kuldeep in the fifth over of the innings, hitting him for three sixes as he reached 40 off just 10 balls as SRH crossed 100 in the same over.

By the time powerplay was done, SRH had posted highest powerplay score ever with Head batting on 84 off just 26 balls and Abhishek on 40. Hyderabad had also hit 13 fours and 11 sixes in first 36 balls which translates to four balls going either for four orsix every over.
