Before Mayank, Arshdeep Singh and current BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar had bowled their first over as maiden on T20I debut. Mayank, who lit up the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 with his pace - lived up to the expectation, bowling well in north of 140 km/h.

Mayank eventually finished with 1/21 in his four overs with the fastest delivery of 149.9 km/h.

Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav won his first toss as the new India T20I skipper and elected to bowl first. The decision was proved right quickly as Arshdeep sent back Litton Das on the fifth ball of the first over itself. Arshdeep struck again in the third over, sending back Parvez Hossain Emon as Bangladesh finished powerplay at 39/2.

Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy then struck in the first over after the powerplay, sending back Towhid Hridoy before Mayank struck as Bangladesh lost four wickets for less than 50.

India then continued to take wickets at regular intervals with Varun taking two of the next four wickets and Washington Sundar taking one. A run out and a wicket in the 18th over bowled by Hardik Pandya kept Bangladesh tied up even as Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who scored 35 not out, held one end firmly.

Bangladesh ended the innings on 127 in 19.5 overs after Arshdeep (3/14) dismissed Mustafizur Rahman as the last wicket.
