India's benchmark indices hit fresh all-time highs on Wednesday, extending their bull run for another session of multiple milestones. Both benchmarks started at new records and closed at life highs.

The blue-chip Sensex index opened at a record high of 78,094 before turning lower in early trade. But soon hit a life high of 78,759 and closed over 620 points at a record of 78,674. The broader nifty index also started at a life high of about 23,697.

During the session, the index hit an all-time high of about 23,890, closing on a new milestone of 24,000. The nifty closed at a record of nearly 23,869.

On Tuesday, the blue-chip Sensex index rose over 700 points to end over 78,000 points for the first time ever. The index started the day in the green before jumping to an intra-day life high of about 78165. The broader nifty index closed at a new record high of 23,721.

The nifty, too, started the day with gains and rose to an all-time high of around 23,754. With the life highs hit on Wednesday, the Nifty index has marked a record in 12 of the 13 sessions since June 7. Monday was the only exception to the record-high runs for the index.

The index now eyes the 24,000 mark, with analysts calling for that level to be reached this week itself. Indian stocks are being driven by expectations of pro-growth policies in the budget.
