Story highlights

Putin's press secretary said that the leadrs did not took questions from the press because they already made comprehensive remarks at the final press conference.

In Alaska, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump had an almost 3-hour meeting along with their top officials sitting by their sides. When the summit was over, both presidents came out to the state where journalists were sitting, ready with their hot questions. The politicians spoke for 12 minutes in total, incuding the US president's 3.3 minutes' speech, but none of them took questions from the media. Moreover, when a few reporters present there threw their questions at them, the presidents simply ignored them.

Now, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said that the leadrs did not took questions from the press because they already made comprehensive remarks at the final press conference.

When he was asked why Trump abruptly ended the press conference after speaking for probably the least in his history of press conferences, Peskov said, "The conversation was indeed very positive, and both leaders have said that. This is the type of conversation that allows to firmly take the path of searching for peace settlement options together."

Alaska summit 'timely, useful'

The Russian president called his meeting with Trump timely and useful. "I would like to immediately note that the visit was timely and very useful," he said at a meeting with the leadership of the presidential staff, the government, the State Duma, government ministries, and departments following Russian-American summit talks, Putin said. "We discussed practically all tracks of our cooperation, but first of all, of course, we talked about a possible resolution of the Ukrainian crisis on a fair basis."

The summit lasted for almost three hours. The press conference after the summit lasted for only 12 minutes. What was the most unbelievable thing was that Trump spoke for only 3.3 minutes during the conference.

The American leader said, “I believe we had a very productive meeting,” he said. “There were many, many points that we agreed on … There’s no deal until there’s a deal. I will call up Nato … I’ll of course call up President Zelenskyy and tell him about today’s meeting … We really made some great progress.”

He added: “I’ve always had a fantastic relationship with President Putin – with Vladimir … We were interfered with by the ‘Russia, Russia, Russia’ hoax.”
