WATCH | Heroic nurses protect neonatal unit babies during Taiwan quake

Amid the damage and destruction by a recent 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Taiwan, surveillance footage from a hospital has come to light that shows the heroic efforts of nurses in the neonatal unit.

As the tremors rocked the building, these nurses swiftly moved to protect the vulnerable babies in their care. They secured their incubators to ensure their safety. The video, which is now going viral on social media platforms, has captured a tense scene within the unit as the earthquake struck.

With the ground trembling, four dedicated staff members sprung into action. Even when their own lives were at stake they ensured that the fragile newborns are protected anyhow.

The nurses rushed to the unit in order to stabilise the bassinets. They were also reportedly aware of potential hazards such as flying debris from nearby windows and that is why were keeping a watch for it as well to safeguard the babies.

Notably, in the aftermath of the quake, harrowing stories has emerged.

Onesurvivor said that rockslides resembling 'bullets' were seen around the coal mine where he worked.

Across social media platforms, individualsshared videos and images capturing the intensity of the earthquake's impact.

The earthquake tragically resulted in the loss of at least nine lives and left over 1,000 individuals injured.

An almost similar intensity earthquake had rattled regions of Turkey and Syria last year, where too tales of extraordinary courage emerged. In the video shared on various social media platforms, one could see nurses from a hospitalrushing into the neonatal unit to prevent the baby incubators from toppling over, as the building shaked vigorously.

Meanwhile, outgoing Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen and President-elect Lai Ching-Te expressed their appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support after a 7.4 magnitude quake.Tsai Ing-wen said, "We are deeply grateful for your kind words and support, @narendramodi, at this challenging time. Your solidarity means a great deal to the people of Taiwan as we all work toward a swift recovery."
