A civilian helicopter crashed into a parking lot in the Chinese capital on Monday (July 30) after the pilot managed to steer the aircraft away from crowded areas, the state-runBeijingYouth Daily said.

Witnesses said the helicopter spun around a number of times before plummeting nose-first to the ground at about 11am, the report said.

There were three men and one woman in the helicopter. The woman, who appeared to be a pilot, and a male passenger crawled out of the aircraft, reports said.

Bell Helicopter told Reuters the helicopter was a Bell 429 aircraft owned by Reignwood Star Aviation, adding it was investigating the cause of the crash.

The cause ofthe crash is currently being investigated.
