Campaign trail again? Trump says Mexico will 'pay for the wall in the end'

Trump who campaigned furiously for the Mexican wall during the presidential campaign said United States' neighbour will "pay for the wall in the end".

 "I don't want to cause a problem, but in the end ...in the end Mexico is going to pay for the wall, I am just telling you. I am just telling you. All right, I don't want to cause any problem....but in the end Mexico is paying for the wall," the US president said during a rally in Tennessee.

However, Mexican president Enrique Pena Nieto said his country will "never" pay for the border wall. Trump contends the wall will help to curb "illegal immigrants" entering the US from the Mexican side.

The move widely condemned both inside and outside the US has become a major issue for Mexico which sees it as a hurdle towards free flow of labour including of goods and services.

The US in recent months has tightened controls along the border with Mexico in an attempt to ostensibly keep migrants out.
