BCCI have made it at par with USA's NFL: Former Pak spinner slams Md Rizwan's comments on PSL vs IPL

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 edition is underway and the 16th season is living up to expectations. Over the years, every IPL season is keenly-awaited as it features various superstars and the mega event has created a huge fan-following across the globe.

After IPL's advent and success, various other franchise leagues have commenced in other parts of the world. Big Bash League (BBL), Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), SA20 and many other such tournaments have kicked off which has grabbed eyeballs as well. Nonetheless, IPL remains the most-followed league and is miles ahead of its competitors in terms of viewership and financial success.

However, comparisons between all leagues keep taking place from time to time. Star Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan recently said thatPSL was much better thanIPL.

Rizwan, prior to the PSL player draft,had stated, "PSL has stunned the entire world. There were talks earlier that PSL won't be successful, but even us, as a player, have felt that PSL is a success. The IPL is there, but if you ask any player around the world who has played in the PSL, he would say that Pakistan's league is the toughest in the world.)."

In an exclusive interview with Timenownews.com, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has slammed Rizwan's comments and made a huge claim on IPL."Bakwaas baat hai (It's all rubbish)," Kaneria added, "The stature of IPL is the greatest all over the world, and no other league even comes close. The BCCI have made the league at par with the NFL of USA."

"When the IPL happens, all other cricket around the world stops. The world's best players come and play in the IPL, and even a player like Steve Smith was not picked by an team in the league. On the other hand, PSL teams are filled with retired players," the ex-spinner further asserted.

So far, IPL 2023 is in its initial stage with the completion of nine games. The ongoing season has seen the return of home-and-away format and has already kept the spectators and viewers at the edge of their seats. The season finale will be held on May 28 in Ahmedabad.
