Those who are indulging in politics in the name of farmers had no time to raise the prices of MSP (Minimum Support Price). Instead, they sat on files, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday referring to his recent government's announcement to increase the MSP on Kharif crops.

Modi was speaking at Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh after laying the foundation stone of Mirzapur Medical College and several other projects.

Training his gun at the Congress party, he said those shedding crocodile tears for farmers today should be asked why did they not see irrigation projects which were left incomplete throughout the nation, during their tenure.

Accusing the previous governments of coming up with incomplete projects and stalling them, Modi said incompletion of Bansagar canal project made the people suffer. ''Had this project been completed beforehand, you would have been benefitted by it two decades back,'' Modis said.

Since the time BJP-NDA govt has come to power the development work in Purvanchal has accelerated and its results can be seen by everyone today, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that 13 medical college were built in UP since independence and PM Narendra Modi gave 13 medical colleges including AIIMS and Cancer institute in just 4 years. Congress ruled for 55 years but they couldn't give AIIMS to UP, Yogi added.

Earlier Modi dedicated Bansagar canal project to the nation. He also laid the foundation stone of Mirzapur Medical College besides inaugurating 100 PM Jan Aushadi Kendras and a bridge over river Ganga.
