Congress party leader Priyanka Gandhi has denied the rumours of her mother, former Congress president Sonia Gandhi retiring from politics.
Priyanka Gandhi said that Sonia Gandhi will be fighting in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from her constituency, Raebareli, in Uttar Pradesh.
During an event, Priyanka Gandhi was asked if she would contest from Raebareli in 2019. She responded by saying, "There is no question of my contesting, my mother will be contesting from Rae Bareli."
Priyanka Gandhi's remarks have scotched the speculation of earlier media reports which stated that Sonia Gandhi will retire frompolitics
On Friday, the Congress issued a clarification that she is only retiring as president and not from politics.
