Self-styled godman Rampal has been sentenced to life imprisonment in connection with two murder cases, news agency ANI reported.
Haryana's Hisar Court, on October 11, found Rampal guilty in both cases of murder filed against him.
Rampal was arrested in 2014 after a tense standoff between his supporters and the police after close to 15,000 of his followers were evacuated from the sprawling ashram premises in Barnala. The stand-off had turned violent resulting in the death of five persons.
