The situation in Malkangiri is currently under control, but police "cannot afford to be complacent."

Security in Odisha's Malkangiri district has been beefed up to prevent further incursions of Maoists from Chhattisgarh following the killing of 15 naxals by security on Monday.

The situation in Malkangiri is currently under control, but police "cannot afford to be complacent," a senior police officer said.

"After an exchange of fire, Maoists usually flee from the site of encounter in search of safe locations. As Malkangiri shares boundary with Chhattisgarh, the rebels may try to sneak into our territory," PTI quoted Superintendent of Police Jagmohan Meena as saying.
