Kashmir's BJP leaders have been summoned to Delhi by Amit Shah.
News reports quoted Kashmir's Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta as saying the call had come "all of a sudden" and that every single one of Kashmir's BJP ministers had received calls separately.
It is still unclear what Shah wishes to discuss with the leaders.
News reports quoted sources as saying Shah may wish to discuss the security situation in the state.
The Centre recently called off its Ramzan ceasefire in Kashmir. The ceasefire had been a failure with terrorists in the state actually carrying out more attacks, not less during Ramzan.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced the end of the ceasefire on Sunday saying while the "security forces had shown restraint, the terrorists had not".
The reports added that Shah may also wish to discuss the widening rift between the BJP and the PDP, its alliance partner in Kashmir.
The PDP had reportedly hoped the Centre would extend its ceasefire.
