Rahul Gandhi gave his second address in the US on Wednesday morning, making jobs the central focus of his talk.

Gandhi was speaking at Princeton University.

The "central question", he said, is how does India give its people jobs?

He added that if India, as a modern country, is unable to give its people jobs, then it is difficult to give them vision.

"Everyday nearly 30,000 youngsters come into (the) job market. 450 jobs are being provided today," said Gandhi.

Gandhi added that "unemployment is one of the major threats to the growth of the nation".

He compared India with China, saying India was falling behind.

"We need to realise that China is moving ahead with tremendous power. And we have to work in accordance with that," said Gandhi.

"We have to compete with China and we are not doing that well," he said.

He added, "China has a very clear vision. Does India have a similar vision?"

"What does that vision look like? What kind of cooperation do we have between the two nations? These are fundamental ques we are looking forward to," he said.

He also talked about polarisation, saying it was one of India's central challenges.

And added that not enough was being done for gender equality.

And he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Make-in-India programme, instead of targeting big business, should focus on promoting small businesses.
