An assistant section officer (ASO) working with the Ministry of Defence was found dead at her residence in Delhi's Dwarka on Friday. The family has accused that 30-year-old Nazia Khanam was pregnant. They have also alleged mental and physical harassment by her husband and in-laws.

Nazia had married Azam Ali Khan just four months ago on April 11 and was three months pregnant, officials said. Immediately after her marriage Nazia told her parents that she was being subjected to constant abuse, beating and eviction threat by her husband, mother-in-law - Sameen Nisha, and father-in-law - Babar Ali Khan.

On several occasions she complained about her husband but the situation did not change, said Nazia's family.

A complaint about the incident was made at 4.20pm after which the police immediately reached the spot.

“Police staff immediately reached the spot. The body was taken into police possession and the concerned SDM was informed. Thereafter, the body was shifted to the DDU Hospital mortuary as per due procedure. The deceased got married in April this year. She was posted as ASO in the Ministry of Defence,” said DCP (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh.
