Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday sounded a Red Alert for 11 districts barring Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Kasaragod.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook an aerial survey of flood-hit Kerala today morning and promised all possible assistance and aid.

The Centre pledged Rs 500 for Kerala in addition to Rs 100 crore which was announced by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on August 12.

Chief Ministers of various states have also offered aid and assistance to flood-ravaged Kerala.

Jharkhand Chief Minister and Odisha CM have announced Rs 5 crore each for relief and rescue mission in Kerala. Maharashtra has allotted Rs 20 crore for Kerala to battle the destructive deluge.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced an aid of Rs 10 crore to Kerala adding that AAP ministers and MLAs will contribute their one month's salary for relief and rescue mission in Kerala.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced Rs 15 crore.

Kerala has sought an immediate assistance of Rs 2,000 crore estimating a cumulative loss of state property worth over Rs ₹19,512 crore.

Army, Navy and Air force teams have been deployed on war-footing to execute relief and rescue work. So far, around 42 navy, 16 army, 28 coast guard and 39 National Disaster Relief Force teams have been deployed in rescue operations.

More rain ahead

The weather department has predicted no respite from rainfall in Kerala for the next 48 hours.The weather office warned of more heavy "red" category rains on Saturday, news agency Reuters reported.

Unabated rainfall and heavy floods have been pounding Kerala taking the death toll to a whopping 357 people.

All 14 districts were put on a Red Alert on Friday while Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday sounded a Red Alert for 11 districts barring Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Kasaragod.
