DMK's working president MK Stalin paid tribute to party patriarch and his father M Karunanidhi at a party executive meeting held in Chennai on Tuesday.

In his first public address after the demise of his father, MK Stalin hit out at the rival AIADMK for restricting the burial of Karunanidhi at the Marina beach.

He said, "When Kalaignar was in his last stage I held CM's hands and pleaded to fulfil his (Karunanidhi) last wish to be buried in Marina Beach but the government didn't agree".

The meeting was organised in Chennai to condole the death of Karunanidhi.

The meeting of the party's Executive Committee under working president M K Stalin also praised the life and achievement of the late party chief.

After battling for life in a private hospital for about 10 days, Karunanidhi had breathed his last on August 7.
