Various Maratha groups have called for a bandh (shutdown) on Tuesday in Maharashtra demanding reservation in government jobs and education.

The Maratha Kranti Morcha Coordination Committee has declared a Maharashtra Bandh in order to protest against the delay on government's part in taking a decision of the topic of reservation for Maratha community, who have been demanding reservation for quite some time now.

The Maratha outfit Kranti Morcha has kept Mumbai, Pune, Solapur and Satara out of the bandh so no problem is caused to the devotees returning from Pandharpur. Mumbai will be closed on Wednesday.

The Maratha Kranti Morcha on Monday, blocked the Mumbai-Pune highway after Kakasaheb Dattatreya Shinde died after jumping off a bridge into Godavari river during 'jal samadhi agitation'.

The community leaders had earlier taken out several rallies in various districts to highlight their demands.

Last year, a huge rally was organised by the Maratha Kranti Morcha in this connection in Mumbai.

In the last few days, protests have taken place in Buldhana, Akola, Parali, Washim and even in Mumbai.
