Maharashtra Assembly polls: BJP expected to hold legislative party meeting next week

As theBharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti alliance is set for a landslide win in the Maharashtra Assembly polls,on Saturday (Nov 23)the saffron party is expected to hold the legislative party meeting on Monday (Nov 25) followed by the oath-taking, which is likely to be scheduled for Tuesday (Nov 26), reportednews agency ANIciting sources.

According to the report, the Mahayutialliance meeting will also likely be held around the same time.

The development comes after Mahayuti is on its way to register a historic win in the assembly elections.

The leading alliance, which comprises the BJP, the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP- Ajit Pawar faction), and other smaller parties, according to the ECI trends has surpassed the 145-seat majority mark in the Indian state as it is leading in 220 seats.

The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), on the other hand, has secured only 51 seats. The MVA comprises the Congress, the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) faction), and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction).

On the election results, Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde said, "As we had expected, we have got very good numbers. I thank all the voters who stood behind Mahayuti and gave this landslide victory..."

Shiv Sena leader Naresh Mhaske said,"Maharashtra government has expressed its faith in Mahayuti. The public is seeing what is happening to Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena today. The people have stated that Eknath Shinde is the one who is capable of leading Balasaheb Thackeray's Shiv Sena...By way of their votes, the public has slapped a slipper on the face of Sanjay Raut. I am a Shiv Sena worker and I think that Eknath Shinde should be the chief minister..."
