A total 26 people including the main accused have been accused arrested in Maharashtra's Dhule lynching incident. A search operation for 15 more accused is underway, said Dhule's Superintendent of Police M Ram kumar.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of the dead. Assuring swift justice, Fadnavis said, "People should not believe in rumours, we will take strict action against those who are behind them. The Dhule lynching case will be sent to a fast-track court."

Similar lynchings have been reported recently from elsewhere in the country too.

Two men were lynched in Assam's Karbi Along district in June. Both men were Assamese.

Seven people were lynched in Jharkhand in May.

And a 40-year-old woman beggar was lynched in Gujarat's Ahmedabad only this week.
