Bangladesh has responded to the publication of the second draft of Assam's National Register of Citizens
"Whatever is happening in Assam is an internal issue," said Bangladesh's Minister of Information Hasanul Haq Inu.
"Assam is a case of purely ethnic conflict," he added.
Haq Inu said "Delhi has not raised this issue with us."
But he added that "listing 40 lakh (people) as Bangladeshis is not a correct statement and hope they (India) will look into the issue correctly."
"Let the India government take a position," he said. But he added that the "Bangladesh government is not interested in starting any communication since there is no robust way to stop illegal immigration this way or that way."
Lakhs and lakhs of people go to and from India for tourism and other reasons, he said. Adding that there was "no need to build a robust mechanism" on India-Bangladesh border since India and Bangladesh are friendly countries.
