The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee has issued a notice to Harsha Moily, son of former Chief Minister Veerappa Moily over a tweet alleging money power in the selection of candidates for the assembly elections.
The committee has sought for an explanation within seven days.
The tweet, which was also sent from Veerappa Moily's Twitter account on Thursday night, has been deleted.
Veerappa Moily, who had also tagged Rahul Gandhi, has denied the tweet, stating that his account could have been hacked.
The tweet, which alleged that there was a nexus between the state Public Works Department minister and contractors, read: INC needs to solve money in politics. We can't afford to have road contractors and their nexus with the state PWD minister determine how candidates are selected for the upcoming assembly elections
Karnataka BJP President and former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa was quick to tweet:
Angst & discontent of old-timers in @INCKarnataka against @siddaramaiah is palpable. @moilyv ji may have been silenced for now but knowing #10PercentCM’s autocratic behaviour & shady dealings, muzzled voices will speak soon.— B.S. Yeddyurappa (@BSYBJP) March 16, 2018
Agrarian crisis in Karnataka. Farmers’ suicides rose by 32% in 2016 as per NCRB reports quoted by Union Min of Agri in Parliament. In contrast, national statistics saw 10% decline. Alarming situation, beyond control of #10PercentCM who prefers wheel & deal with contractors!— B.S. Yeddyurappa (@BSYBJP) March 17, 2018
The Congress has now acknowledged the charges leveled by the Moilys. The Jr. is issued with a notice seeking an explanation on his comment on Party ticket. The Sr. spared for now! Mr. #10PercentCM @siddaramaiah, please stop lecturing others on corruption.— B.S. Yeddyurappa (@BSYBJP) March 17, 2018
