An encounter between security forces and terrorists broke out in Kapran Batagund area of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Sunday.
According to reports, as many as six terrorists have been killed along with a security personnel named Naik Nazir. The operation has been concluded, security forces have recovered weapons and warlike stores, news agency ANI reported.
Four out of six terrorists belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen, rest were from Lashkar-e-Taiba. Both the district commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar have been killed, an investigation is underway, SSP Shopian Sandeep Chaudhary told media.
Initially, one jawan of 34 RR sustained injuries in exchange of fire. He was evacuated to hospital and is stable now. However one Jawan identified as Nazir Ahmad of 34 RR has succumbed and attained martyrdom: J&K Police on Shopian encounter
This comes after an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorist Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district on Friday. According to reports, six terrorists were gunned down in the operation by the security forces.
