Although the "snub" has been emphatically denied by the government, however, reports say the top government ministers have kept a low profile even as Trudeau has been visiting India.

Reports suggested Trudeau insisted on taking ministers to India who apparently were"sympathisers"of the Khalistan movement which further riled Indian officials.

However, as the Canadian PM met Punjab chief minister Arminder Singh the two had a cordial meeting. The Punjab CM said PM Trudeau would "look into the matter".
