''He is better. His blood pressure has stabilised,'' she was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Following Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad visited Karunanidhi at Kauvery Hospital as anxious supporters gathered outside Kauvery Hospital in Chennai. The Governor also met MK Stalin, DMK working president and son of M Karunanidhi, at the hospitaland inquired about his health, news agency ANI reported.

DMK leader and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi was rushed to hospital from Gopalapuram residence in Chennai around 1:30 AM on Saturday following a sudden drop in blood pressure.

The DMK Chief has been admitted to Kauvery hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The nonagenarian leader was suffering from fever and infection for the past few days and was being treated round-the-clock by a team of hospitals and nursing professionals at his house.

Soon after, the hospital released a statement saying that Karunanidhi's blood pressure was stabilised with medical help, adding that he was under observation.

"DMK President and former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Kalaignar Dr M Karunanidhi has been admitted on July 28 at 1:30 am in the ICU of Kauvery Hopsital following a drop in blood pressure. His blood pressure has been stabilised with medical management and he continues to be monitored and treated by the panel of expert doctors," Dr Aravindan Selvaraj, Executive Director of Kauvery Hospital, said in a statement.

DMK leader A Raja, who is present at the hospital, also reiterated the same and added that the party chief is now out of danger.

TNCC chief S Thirunavukkarasar also visited the Hospital and said Karunanidhi was reacting well to treatment. Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mukul Wasnik will be visiting Karunanidhi later in the day, he informed.

The DMK patriarch yesterday crossed a milestone when he became the first leader to enter the 50th year as president of a party.

The former Chief Minister was elected party president on July 27, 1969. Five months earlier, on February 10, 1969, he was elected the legislature party leader of the DMK and became the Chief Minister of the State following the death of party founder CN Annadurai.
