The body of a newborn baby was found Wednesday on a Guwahati-Delhi Air Asia flight.
The corpse has been sent for post-mortem examination and the girl suspected to be the baby's mother has been sent for a medical examination, ANI reported.
A doctor from the medical team at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport confirmed that the baby had been delivered onboard.
Air Asia added that a suspect has been held back for further investigation.
News reports said the girl suspected to be the baby's mother is thought to be a minor.
The reports added that the baby was found inside a toilet on the plane by a flight staffer. And that the baby's mouth had been stuffed with toilet paper to prevent the child from crying out which would have alerted the other passengers.
A case of murder has been registered by Delhi Police.
